Beyond the Barbell is Yoddha’s coached community for people who train like it’s sadhana — repetition as practice, effort as devotion, the body as the instrument the mind rewires itself through.
You already know how to eat well and train hard. You’ve read the articles, tried the programs, downloaded the apps. None of it failed because you didn’t know enough — it failed because knowing isn’t the mechanism. Neural circuits strengthen through repetition under the right load, coached and adjusted, not through information you already have. Willpower is not a strategy. A coach who shows up every single week is.
Kleim & Jones (2008) established that specificity, repetition, and intensity physically reshape the motor cortex. Training isn’t a metaphor for rewiring your brain — inside the right program, it is the mechanism.
Kleim & Jones, J Speech Lang Hear Res, 2008The Vedantic tradition calls disciplined, repeated action sadhana. We don’t swap the science for the philosophy — we use the philosophy to make the science bearable at 6am, on the rep that doesn’t feel like progress yet.
Progressive overload, deliberate variability, and load management — coached weekly inside the community, adjusted to your data, not handed to you once on a PDF and forgotten.
One session, one on one. Vai screens how you move, finds the actual limiter, and hands you a plan — whether or not you ever work together again.
Your program, written and rebuilt by Vai every week around your history, schedule, and goals. Add 24/7 messaging access if you are in comp prep or training around an injury.
Everything in Beyond the Barbell, plus direct messaging access. For competitors in prep and anyone training through an injury who needs an answer the same day, not next week.
Most “communities” are a Discord full of strangers and a course you never finish. Beyond the Barbell is small on purpose — because the programming is coached, not templated.
Everything below, every single week — not a one-time download.Built on progressive overload and motor learning principles, adjusted to how you’re actually recovering — not a fixed 12-week PDF.
Final-year DPT candidate, NASM-CPT, competitive powerlifter. You’re coached by the person who built the method, not a moderator.
Structured check-ins and community polls keep training a practice you show up to, not a resolution that quietly dies in February.
Capacity is capped by design — Vai coaches this community personally, so it only grows as fast as real coaching can.
Train inside Beyond the Barbell for two weeks. If the coaching, the programming, or the community isn’t obviously worth it — tell Vai directly and you’re out. No guilt trip, no retention script, no hoops to jump through. Coaching should be judged on whether it works, not on how hard it is to leave. After that, it’s month to month — no contracts.
Vai Jaideep is a final-year Doctor of Physical Therapy candidate (UTEP, expected 2027), NASM-CPT, and founder of Yoddha Training — coaching 100+ clients across nine countries since 2020, on a philosophy of training as sadhana grounded in neuroplasticity and motor learning research. From 2020 to 2024 he coached Aren Joy Fernandes to gold at the Asian Classic Championships, an IPF World Junior bronze, and two Indian national records. Clinically trained in manual therapy and outcome-based rehabilitation; a competitive powerlifter with a 260/190/305 kg total (755 kg) and a 2025 state title, who has also run a half marathon — the range is the point: the same motor-learning principles that build a max squat build endurance and everything between.
The five-year case study
Aren Joy Fernandes came to Vai in 2020 already holding a sub-junior Asian gold. He left in 2024 with two Indian national records, an IPF World Junior bronze, and an Asian Classic title. Same coach, five unbroken years. That is the standard the programming is built against.

Most programs fail because they’re generic and no one is watching whether you actually did the work. Beyond the Barbell is coached weekly with real accountability check-ins — not a PDF you forget about by week three.
The brand is intense. The coaching meets you where you are. Programming is individualized to your level, whether this is your first training cycle or your fifteenth.
Programming is built around your actual schedule, not a fixed class time. This isn’t about training more — it’s about training with intent, on a schedule that survives contact with real life.
See the Two-Week Warrior Guarantee above. After that, it’s month to month — no contracts, no cancellation maze.
Start with a free evaluation. Thirty minutes, one on one — Vai screens how you move, tells you what he sees, and you leave with a plan either way. No cost, no obligation.
Book your free evaluation →Vai coaches every member personally, so there’s a real ceiling on the roster. When it’s hit, applications pause until a spot opens. Not ready for the eval? Get a free 15-minute consult or DM “Warrior” on Instagram.
P.S. — If you’re still reading this, you already know discipline was never the problem. Book the eval and let’s fix the mechanism, not the willpower.
Every path starts with the same thing: a coach reading your data and adjusting the plan. The difference is how much of Vai’s week goes to you. Not sure? Book the 30-minute evaluation first and decide after.
A 30-minute one-on-one session. Vai screens your movement, finds the actual limiter, and hands you a plan you can run whether or not you ever hire him.

Everything in Beyond the Barbell, plus Vai on the other end of your phone. For competitors in prep and anyone training through an injury who needs an answer the same day, not next week.
Everything in Beyond the Barbell, plus:
Most people do not need a new program. They need to know what is actually limiting them. That is what this session is for.
Thirty minutes, one on one. Vai screens how you move, tests the joint or pattern you suspect, and tells you what he sees. You leave with written takeaways and a plan — whether or not you ever work together again.
This session is complimentary — no payment, no catch.

Run the programming for two weeks. If you cannot point to something that changed — a lift, a pain level, a pattern you finally understand — you get a full refund and you keep the work. Vai has coached 100+ people across nine countries. The mechanism holds. The only variable is whether you show up for it.
The free evaluation, almost always. Thirty minutes tells you more than a sales call ever will, and there's no cost to find out. Skip it only if you already know exactly what you want.
Both are one-on-one coaching with Vai: your program, your history, rebuilt every week. The 24/7 tier adds direct messaging access, same-day answers, and live call time during comp prep. Take 24/7 if you are prepping for a meet or training around an injury. Otherwise start with Beyond the Barbell.
No. Most clients train at a commercial gym, but programming gets built around the equipment you actually have. Tell Vai your setup in the intake.
It is the reason a lot of people come. Vai is a final-year Doctor of Physical Therapy candidate, and injury-informed programming is the core of the practice. Clients have come in with chronic back pain, knee pain, and multi-year wrist pain and trained through and out of it.
Both tiers are month to month, cancel anytime. Three months is the honest minimum to see structural change, but nobody is locked in. Both carry the Two-Week Guarantee, so the risk on the front end is zero.
Yes. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details never touch Yoddha servers.
A hospital bed in Dubai, a cricket bat, a first barbell overhead, and eventually a platform with a state title on it. Along the way, five years coaching a friend to two national records and an Asian championship. The philosophy did not come from a textbook. It came from running the experiment on himself first, then on someone he could not afford to get wrong.
Competition is not a marketing detail. Vai still loads the bar, still misses attempts, still makes the same decisions he asks clients to make.
260 / 190 / 305 kg. A 755 kg total, a 2025 Karnataka, India State title, and a half marathon on the other end of the spectrum. Plus the two credentials that matter most in the coaching chair: a final-year Doctor of Physical Therapy candidacy, and five years coaching a national-record holder.
Cricket in Dubai, a first barbell overhead, and a lot of time being the smallest kid in the room. The reason the programming is patient is that the coach remembers being on the other side of it.
The clearest answer to “does the programming actually work on someone who is not you.”
The lifter holding the medals is Aren Joy Fernandes, out of Mangaluru. Vai’s best friend since the tenth grade, and his athlete from 2020 to 2024.
Aren arrived already good. He had taken sub-junior gold in Kazakhstan the year before. The hard part of coaching an athlete like that is not finding the first twenty kilos, it is keeping someone on an international podium for five straight years while the competition gets older, heavier, and better. That is the job Vai took, and the records below are what came out of it.
Two Indian national records, a World Junior podium, and an Asian title, across five unbroken years with the same coach. Two kids out of the same tenth-grade classroom, both still under the bar a decade later. That is what a long coaching relationship is capable of, and it is the standard every Yoddha program is built against.
Thirty minutes, one on one. Vai screens how you move, finds the actual limiter, and hands you a plan either way, free.
